Home Support

We’re here to help!

Our Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) is here to assist older residents in the community to maintain their independence, stay in their own homes longer and increase wellbeing.

We have a variety of subsidised services available to support Commonwealth Home Support Program eligible residents, including social activities, home maintenance, cleaning support, transport and assisted shopping. Our services are based on a fee structure that is affordable to all levels of income.

Our Services
  • Home Maintenance
Our friendly Home Maintenance Officers can come to your home and assists with minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing tap washers, changing light bulbs and light pruning. They also install some safety rails and other home modifications to improve safety and accessibility in and around your home. For more information, visit our Home Maintenance Page.
  • Domestic Assistance
Our cleaning program offers a range of services from one off spring cleans, to short term, fixed term or ongoing assistance. We work in partnership with the resident, undertaking the more strenuous tasks whilst they continue to do tasks they are able to do comfortably.
  • Community Bus
Our Community Buses provide regular transport to local shopping centres and libraries for all Holdfast Bay residents. For more information visit our Community Transport page.
  • Personal Transport
For residents who are no longer driving and unable to access the community bus safely and comfortably, personal transport may be the right option for you. For a small contribution, transport can be arranged to local medical, social or shopping destinations as well as outside of council boundaries for appointments at major medical facilities.
  • Social Programs
We offer a great range of social opportunities including lunches, coffee crawls, buddy programs, men’s groups, Heart Foundation walking groups, health and wellbeing programs and much more. For more information visit our Social Programs page.
